Cfb — oceanic temperate
Centre-Val de Loire, France's cereal breadbasket, spans the Beauce plain (deep silts, exceptional water-holding), the sandy humid Sologne, the alluvial Touraine and the clay-limestone Berry. With 1,324 GDD, 292 frost-free days but a pronounced summer water deficit (-271 mm), the region depends on irrigation for grain maize and secures wheat and rapeseed thanks to its deep soils. Laboulet offers Centre-Val de Loire drought-tolerant sunflowers (L 22-01 S, LS SWIFT, LS Lollipop), mid-early maize hybrids suited to Beauce irrigation, and oilseed linseed exploiting the cool early cycle.
